Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another, do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.” (Zechariah 7:9-10)
Let us pray: Most gracious Father in heaven,
look upon all the men, women and children who have fled their home countries to
escape from poverty, violence and war. May our land welcome and treat them with
hospitality and dignity. May each citizen of this country acknowledge that they
too, in spite of the differences in color, language, belief and culture are
still your children and deserve your love and compassion. Inspire us to become
more understanding and more giving to them. May we all together live in comfort,
harmony, and peace under your watchful eyes. Amen.
