I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

Let us pray: Beloved Jesus, on this day, we pray for wisdom and guidance that every citizen may do his or her duties according to the will of God. May each one of us find a way to behave and act with dignity and pride. Keep us from being ignorant and slanderous. May we always strive to improve human rights, relationships and national welfare. Amen.
