Now, there is quite a difference between a need and a want.
A need is "something necessary or required". It's a necessity. It's a basic requirement for survival, such as food.
On the other hand, a want is "a desire for something".
Now, notice the difference between both.
So, back to the question, "Is it right to pray for money?"
Answer: "Only if the money is required to meet a need."
In Matthew 6, Jesus taught us how to pray
In Matthew 6:9-13, Jesus teaches us how to pray.
Many people never realize that He also pointed out to us what is right to pray about.
Let's analyze the verses one after the other:
Verse 9: "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name."
Analysis: Jesus pointed out to us that it is only right to start a prayer by giving honor to God.
Verse 10: "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven."
Analysis: He pointed out that we should pray for God's will to be done in our lives, and not our own will.
Verse 11: "Give us this day our daily bread."
Analysis: He pointed out that we should only pray for our daily needs to be met and not ask for luxury. In other words; we should pray for only our needs and not some mere wants we can do without.
Verse 12: "And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."
Analysis: He pointed out that we should ask for forgiveness for our sins, and endeavor to forgive those who have wronged us.
Verse 13: "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."
Analysis: He pointed out that we should ask to be kept from temptation, delivered from evil, and once more give all the glory to God.
So, back to the question again, "Is it right to pray for money?"
