You trample the poor, stealing their grain through taxes and unfair rent. Therefore, though you build beautiful stone houses, you will never live in them. Though you plant lush vineyards, you will never drink wine from them. (Amos 5:11)

Let us pray: God, our father of equality and justice, grant those who are in the position to look closely and recognize the problem of oppression and discrimination in this country. We pray that these leaders who took oath in serving their countrymen stay true and sincere with their duties and obligations. We pray for those struggling to provide basic needs like shelter, food, clothing, health care and education for their families. We pray for those who are suffering from hunger and malnutrition in other countries. We pray for those who are gravely affected by civil wars and political unrest. We pray for everyone who is too weak to help and protect himself. Grant them the courage and determination Lord to fight for their rights. Amen.
