When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. (Proverbs 11:2 KJV)
LET US PRAY: God, there is
an evil in my life that I must control. A sin that has taken such a strong hold
that it limits me in all that I do. If this is not cast aside and destroyed, I
will never be in full communion with you. It’s my pride. My heart hungers for
humility, but that is not how society works. It is always go, go, go; do, do,
do; and gain, gain, gain. Failure is not an option, but I know I am failing
you. Your intention is for your people to care for one another and take
ourselves out of the equation. Though my faith is personal and unique to me, I
am doing a disservice when I put myself before you, your community, your church
and your world. I want to be wise, but heavenly wisdom never mixes with pride.
Guide me in your light, walk with me toward a thoughtful faith, and protect me
from the sadness and regret that pride brings to us. Amen.
